Essentials

These are the main essentials that will be helpful to you.

Term Dates 2023

Tuesday 7th February – Thursday 6th April

Monday 24th April – Friday 30th June

Monday 17th July – Friday 22nd September

Monday 9th October – Wednesday 20th December

Food

If your child is in the 2.5 – 3.5 year age group please provide one piece of SOFT fruit daily –e.g. oranges, mandarins, bananas and other seasonal soft fruit.  Once your child is past 3.5 years please provide any fruit of your choice including apples and carrots.  Each child also needs a NAMED, easy to open drink bottle with water.

For lunch, please provide HEALTHY finger food options. We suggest simple foods such as sandwiches, muffins, crackers & fruit. Please ensure that your child’s lunchbox and any other food containers, are easy for them to open.

Clothing

Please dress your child in clothing that they are permitted to get messy in. Please NAME removable clothing. We expect the use of hats in the summer months. Please include spare clothing in colder weather or if your child is still learning to use the toilet. Gumboots and extra warm gear is very appropriate in the winter.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays with your child. Generally for a third birthday we sing happy birthday and light the candles on our pretty preschool artificial cake; for 4th birthday we do the same and often  a small treat is provided from home; for the 5th birthday our children sit on the birthday chair; have a real cake from home and enjoy a gift or two from preschool.

If you would like to provide treats, we suggest one of the following options – mini cupcakes, cookies, pencils, & stickers. Please avoid lollipops as they are a choking hazard.

Some children have allergies and this precludes them from eating some of our treats, so please be sensitive in your consideration of this. Providing a treat that all can enjoy it is certainly the best option and food is not always the best choice.

Health

It is important to keep your child home if they are unwell. Please report any infectious diseases to the Head Teacher. If any health concerns arise, please report these so that teachers can be made aware.

Visits

You are welcome to come and have a look at our Preschool. We are available to discuss your child’s learning and development at any stage, please make an appointment with the head teacher.

Parent Participation

We really welcome your support as a parent helper. Please choose which days you wish to parent help and simply write your name on the calendar (which is situated on the parents section of our noticeboards at the entrance), when you are available.

Please remember that if your child attends 4 or more sessions, your parental assistance will be requested more regularly than if your child only attends two or three days per week. We really value your support. Your daily help with regular chores is so helpful and it provides an opportunity to really feel a sense of belonging here at preschool. The teachers and children love having you with us and really value your help.
